The Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), SAMHSA through the General Acquisitions Branch, PSC plans to award a sole source simplified acquisition to American Association of Health Plans in Washington, DC, to obtain information on trends in mental health and substance abuse (MH/SA) services in health maintenance organization's (HMO's) and preferred provider organization's (PPO's), based on data collected in FY 97. Information to be obtained includes: MH/SA benefit characteristics and limits; organization/characteristics of MH/SA services within HMO'S and PPO's; utilization on MH/SA services; and major regional differences. A final report shall identify qualifications to be used in interpreting the statistics, explanations of apparent anomalies, and a description of possible overlap with other major surveys of managed care organizations.
