announcement constitutes a Sources Sought synopsis. This is not a
Request for Proposals. We anticipate the release of the solicitation
within approximately nine months. The following information is provided
to do a Market Survey of Industry to identify interested sources with
the capabilities to produce a replacement wheel and brake assembly for
the F-16 Block 10-32 aircraft. The replacement system should provide
a wheel design to accommodate both a bias ply and radial ply tire. The
brake design shall provide a minimum of 1000 landings before removal
for repair or replacement. The replacement wheel and brake shall fit
within the present envelope of the F-16 Block 10-32 wheel well fittings
and lines and will be form, fit, and function compatible with existing
aircraft/landing gear. Respondents should be equipped to manufacture
wheel and brake assemblies and their component parts per Air Force
Performance Specification #965529 which will be provided upon request.
This acquisition will also include a brake warranty of 1000 landings.
It is not the intent of this announcement to direct or fund a
design/development effort. Respondents who choose to design and develop
a replacement wheel and brake assembly must complete all test and
qualification requirements and be ready to produce the end product
prior to proposal submittal. Those who choose to embark on a
design/development effort do so at their own risk as the Air Force may
or may not proceed with a solicitation. Pre-Qualification will be
required prior to award of a contract. This acquisition will not be
delayed to allow a contractor to become a qualified source unless it is
determined to be in the best interest of the government. To qualify, a
contractor must provide documentation that they have met all the
requirements of the Performance Specification #965529. Clarifications
regarding the specifications will be provided at the contractor's
written request however, any waivers will not be addressed/entertained.
Interested sources should provide their company name, address and a
point of contact in a one page letter. No telephone or fax requests
please. (0213) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0335 19960801\16-0010.SOL)
