COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 2,1996 PSA#1650US Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), PGAS, Procurement Operations Division, 1325 East
West Highway, Station 4301, Silver Spring, MD 20910-3283 59 -- MIN/MAX TEMPERATURE INSTRUMENT SHELTER AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR
ASSEMBLY SOL 51-DGNW-6-90171 DUE 091896 POC Eleanor E. Kaul, Contract
Specialist, and Gregory N. Smith, Contracting Officer, 301/713-0823 or
via fax at 301/713-0806 The National Weather Service (NWS) of the
National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement
for the procurement of up to 400 maximum/minimum (max/min)temperature
system (MMTS) instrument shelter and temperature sensor subassemblies
to include manufacturing to Government supplied design specifications
and testing of the units. The procurement shall contain two (2)
options for 400 each and one (1) option for 100 each. The MMTS
instrument shelter and temperature sensor subassembly will be a part of
the max/min temperature system that collects, processes, and displays
ambient temperature data, stores the max/min temperature until reset,
and displays the max/min temperatures upon query. The instrument
shelter and the temperature sensor subassembly does not require any
power to operate. The MMTS instrument shelter shall be assembled from
molded plastic parts and shall house an off-the-shelf thermistor as the
temperature sensor. All artwork, parts lists, and schematics necessary
to reproduce the instrument shelter and temperature sensor subassembly
will be provided by the NWS. Government acceptance of the MMTS
instrument shelter and temperature sensor subassembly shall be
contingent upon the unit successfully passing all tests associated with
the Contractor's and the Government's Quality Assurance(Q/A) programs.
The Q/A provisions follow a logical sequence providing thorough
testing of preproduction units prior to production release followed by
limited testing of production units to demonstrate compliant operation
in the absence of infant-mortality. All responsible sources interested
in this procurement can request a copy of this solicitation by sending
a fax on company letterhead to the attention of Eleanor E. Kaul at
301/713-0806. See Note #1 regarding small business set-aside. (0213) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0404 19960801\59-0003.SOL)
