Harris, Contracting Officer, 703/648-7386 APPLICATIONS ARE BEING SOLICITED AND WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM STATE GEOLOGICAL SURVEYS ONLY. This program, referred to as STATEMAP, is a component of the National Geologic mapping Program which is designed to expedite production of a geologic-map data base for the Nation. The STATEMAP component provides for geologic mapping by State geological surveys (i.e. State agencies) as part of a combined Federal and State program to produce geologic maps. Cooperative agreement awards will be on a equal cost-sharing basis only, with Federal funds from the State Geologic Mapping Component matched with funds from non-Federal sources. Project proposals are invited for: (1) Large-and-intermediate-scale geologic mapping of areas for which geologic data are required to address issues such as land-use planning, energy or mineral resource hazard waste disposal, and scientific problems; and (2) formulation, compilation, and production of state geologic maps. Application packages (including all necessary forms, instructions and review criteria) will automatically be sent to all State Geological Surveys.
