(410) 965-9513 The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to
issue a non-competitive solicitation for preventive and remedial
maintenance services on four (4) Government-owned 2000 KVA Exide
Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), associated microprocessor-based
self diagnostic package (Data Track) for four (4) battery subsystems
and related breakers and switchgear located at the Social Security
Administration (SSA) Headquarters, National Computer Center (NCC), 6201
Security Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21207. The equipment to be maintained is
as follows: Four (4) Exide 2000 KVA UPS; one (1) Exide Master Control
Console (Type 101-250-504); three (3) Remote Diagnostic Monitors
(Scantek); and seven hundred sixty eight (768) Exide Batteries (Type
GC). A sources sought synopsis published in issue no. PSA-1576 of the
Commerce Business Daily (CBD) on Thursday, April 18, 1996,
substantiates SSA's belief that Exide Electronics Corp. is the only
source that has the prerequisite knowledge, experience and facilities
and is capable of providing the needed service by virtue of its past
experience and in-depth knowledge. SSA anticipates awarding a 1-year
firm, fixed-price contract with four 1-year option periods, if
exercised. It is anticipated that a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be
issued on or about August 1, 1996, with proposals due within 30
calendar days. Parties interested in receiving a copy of this
solicitation must request in writing only a copy of the referenced
solicitation number SSA-RFP-96-2641 as expeditiously as possible since
the solicitation will be issued without any further notice. The
solicitation will be available for download in electronic form on the
SSA Acquisition Data and Information Exchange (SADIE) Bulletin Board
