Y -- BLDG. 435 HEATING & REFRIGERATION MODIFICATIONS Sol EMV-96-IB-0010 Due 092496 POC Mrs. Sandi Nixon, Contract Specialist, 540/542-2303 The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking bidders for the Bldg. 435 Cafeteria Heating & Refrigeration Modifications project. Work efforts will be performed at the FEMA Mt. Weather Emergency Assistance Center (MWEAC), 19844 Blue Ridge Mountain Rd., Bluemont, VA, Loudoun County. The solicitation will consist of a base bid and four option items. Base bid work consists of: Boiler Replacement, Meat Refrigerator Refurbishment, Meat Freezer Refurbishment. Option One consists of: Dairy Refrigerator Refurbishment, Produce Refrigerator Refurbishment, Garbage Refrigerator Refurbishment. Option Two consists of: Exhaust Hood & Grease Replacement with Fire Suppression Units. Option Three consists of: Quarry Tile Flooring in Kitchen, Serving Lines, and Pot/Dishwashing Areas. Option Four consists of: Cooking Area Rehabilitation (Island Wall Demo, Tile Installation). The intent of the project is to replace the boilers, flue exhaust piping, critical boiler appurtenances and all controls. Components include draft controls, fuel oil pumps, fuel oil burners, pressure gauges, condensate tank and pumps, branch line pressure reducing stations, blow off tank, drain pit sump pumps, etc. There are five air cooled condensing units located in areas above the refrigeration lockers and freezers. Each unit utilizes R-12 refrigerant and shall be removed. The evaporator coils located in each cooler shall be removed. The refrigerant lines, controls, electrical feeders and electrical disconnects shall also be removed. The domestic steam hot water tanks will be removed. The kitchen exhaust hoods and associated ductwork will be removed. The ventilators will remain. Various minor architectural modifications will also be accomplished. Valid Virginia Contractors license required in order to bid/perform work. Magnitude of Construction is between $250K and $500K. The resulting contract will be a firm-fixed price construction type and the award of the option items is subject to the availability of FY funds. The period of performance for the base bid will be 332 calendar days from receipt of Notice to Proceed and 15 calendar days will be added to the base period of performance for each option awarded.
