COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 5,1996 PSA#1651Westinghouse Hanford Company, PO Box 1970, MS:H8-64, Richland, WA
99352 A -- COMMERCIALIZATION OPPORTUNITY FOR FIVE (5) TECHNOLOGIES SOL
TCBD96-03DG DUE 090696. POC David L. Greenslade, 509-376-5601, Fax
509-372-2454. Westinghouse Hanford Company (WHC), the Management and
Operations contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site,
has developed five technologies that may have applications beyond the
government sector: 1) HVAC System Pressure-Compensated Flow Control
Valve, a very reliable, low-cost, and passively-operated air flow
control device (patent pending), 2) Multiple Media Core Sampler, a
device that captures solids, liquids, sludges, and gases in a
single-pass (patent pending), 3) X-Ray Beam Alignment Device, an
improved, simple, and inexpensive radiographic tool used to align the
x-ray beam to the image intensifier in real-time, 4) Replaceable
Subsurface Flow Barrier, an engineered in situ remediation system
designed to intercept and remove contaminants in the saturated
groundwater zone while allowing groundwater to pass through the barrier
(patent pending), and 5) Water-Retaining Agricultural Barrier, and
erosion-resistant, water-retaining geotechnical barrier that supports
plant life and land reclamation in arid or semi-arid regions (patent
issued). WHC is developing a strategy for licensing the technologies to
companies for commercial use. Currently, WHC is looking for expressions
of interest from companies who have both the interest and ability to
take one or more of these technologies to market. Depending upon prior
commitments, a license can take a variety of forms, up to and
including the opportunity for an exclusive license. This is not an
offer for the sale of a license, but rather a solicitation of
interested parties for potential license opportunities. You and other
potential licensees, must a) express interest in one or more of the
technologies either by writing or faxing us by September 6, 1996, b)
identify which of the five technologies is of interest, and c) include
brief statements of your experience and capabilities with similar
technology. When responding to this CBD, the envelope address and the
top of ALL correspondence should have the solicitation number
``TCBD96-03DG'' clearly fixed. Contact Dave Greenslade on 509-376-5601,
by fax to 509-372-2454, or by e-mail at david_l_greenslade@rl.gov.
