ARGENTINA: GANGLIOSIDES OF BOVINE ORGIN. The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif. 96.218. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: ARGENTINA. Agency responsible: National Drug, Food and Medical Technology Administration (ANMAT) of the Ministry of Health and Social Services Agency or authority designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.10.1. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Gangliosides of bovine origin, finished and semi-finished products containing raw materials of ruminant origin and prepared food containing ruminant products. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Orders 1666/96, 1678/96 and 1411/96. 6. Description of content: (This notification applies to those elements of the regulations which are covered by the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade.) Order 1666/96: categorizes the risk of prepared food containing ruminant products for directed sale to the public and/or consumer. Order 1678/96: categorizes the risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) by country and risk of ruminant raw materials, for transmission of BSE to humans. Order 1411/96: as a precautionary measure, suspends marketing of medical specialities containing gangliosides of bovine origin. 7. Objective and rationale: Protection of public health. 8.
