Aviles, (404) 622-6241 Ext 640. The Department of Justice, Federal
Bureau of Prisons, Southeast Regional Office, intends to procure, on a
sole-source basis, through Montgomery Kone, Inc., 3451 Commerce
Parkway, Miramar, Florida 33025, for elevator maintenance. The elevator
equipment is located at the Federal Detention Center, 33 N.E. 4th Ave.,
Miami, Fl. 33132. The equipment includes four electric and six
hydraulic elevators, all manufactured and installed by Montgomery Kone,
Inc. The requirements of this procurement include the ability to
provide full maintenance service by skilled, competent employees. The
contractor is responsible to provide the repair equipment to test any
of the ten elevators. The software used must be compatible with the
existing equipment located at the worksite. With the exception of group
supervisory control system tests on elevators and emergency call back
service, all work shall be performed during regular working hours of
regular work days with the exception of all federal holidays. The
contractor shall furnish all supplies, parts, material and labor
necessary to perform cleaning, maintenance, inspection and service of
elevators, equipment, appurtenances, accessories; including hoist
machinery, controllers, work gears, thrusts, bearings, brake magnet
coils, brake shoes, brushes, windings, commutators, rotating elements,
contacts, coils, resistors for operation and motor circuits, magnet
frames, telephones, cams, car door and hoisting door hangars, tracks
and guides, door operating devices, interlocks and contacts, hatch
lighting (minimum 60 watt illumination), put lights, bulb replacement
in signal systems, and all other elevator signal and accessory
equipment, part of the elevator installation. The contractor is
responsible for the replacement of all machine room light bulbs or
tubes, hatchway and pit receptacles and light sockets. Particular
attention is to be given to maintaining all emergency light unit in an
operable condition. All lubricants, oils, greases, ropes preservatives
and cleaning materials are to be furnished by the contractor. The
contractor shall own and maintain a stock of replacement parts. It is
vitally necessary that replacement parts be immediately available so
the elevator service will not be subject to interruption and stoppages.
The contractor shall provide regular call back service within two hours
from the time requested, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 5.00
p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Government holidays. Emergency
call back service shall be provided within one hour of notification.
All affirmative responses shall be in writing and shall be accompanied
by sufficient documentation to clearly show competence and compliance
to all of the above requirements. Responses shall be received within
15 calendar days of this notice. If no affirmative response is received
within 15 days after publication of this notice identifying comparable
service is available and more advantageous to the Government than
obtaining these services from Montgomery Kone, Inc., a sole source
award shall be made. The anticipated period of performance for this
acquisition will be a base year from October 1, 1996 or date of award
(whichever is later) through September 30, 1997 with four, one year
option years running from October 1 through September 30 thereafter.
