The Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Southeast Regional Office, intends to procure, on a sole-source basis, through Montgomery Kone, Inc., 3451 Commerce Parkway, Miramar, Florida 33025, for elevator upgrades. The elevator equipment is located at the Federal Detention Center, 33 N.E. 4th Ave., Miami, Fl. 33132. The equipment includes four elevators, all manufactured and installed by Montgomery Kone, Inc. The contractor will be required to refinish all defected or damaged stainless steel material throughout the elevators and entrance frames located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the institution. The contractor shall reinstall or supply and install (whichever is applicable) the hand/bumper rails located inside each car. The contractor shall furnish and install stainless steel protective bumpers in the elevators in the following locations: car operating panel front return, strike side return, strike jamb for relocation of receiver protective edge. Contractor shall fabricate and install additional guardrails in each of the four elevators. Contractor shall supply and install new hall push button stations to include all new wire, conduit, solid state boards, additional card racks and new programmed E-proms. Contractor shall furnish and install a single master security switch in the elevator control panel located in the main control center. The contractor shall: reprogram elevator dispatching to cancel car calls during security mode; furnish and install a 12th floor lock out key switch, this work will include engineering solid state circuitry changes and new E-prom manufacturing. The contractor shall also be responsible for removing and disposing of existing floor tile and installing new tile. All work will include a minimum of one year guarantee. All affirmative responses shall be in writing and shall be accompanied by sufficient documentation to clearly show competence and compliance to all of the above requirements. Responses shall be received within 15 calendar days of this notice. If no affirmative response is received within 15 days after publication of this notice identifying comparable service is available and more advantageous to the Government than obtaining these services from Montgomery Kone, Inc., a sole source award shall be made.
