The William J. Hughes Technical Center intends on submitting a purchase order to Price Waterhouse for consultation and training related to Activa Software and most importantly, the activity based costing(ABC) system model designs and techniques necessary to fully implement an operating ABC system at the Technical Center. Based on an in-depth analyses of available software/consultation packages, the technical center has selected Price-Waterhouse as the provider of the software and consultation services to implement an Activity Based Costing system pilot project. The selection was based on the following criteria. (1) The capability of Price-Waterhouse to provide an off-the-shelf software package (Activa) that is integrated with the resources for full consultation services. Price-Waterhouse's consultation capabilities will satisfy the Technical Center's comprehensive requirements for pilot project implementation, and implementation team real time training. (2) A software system that is capable of multiple concurrent user utilization with Client-Server/Enterprise-wide capabilities. This system has the dimension for utilization by the entire Technical Center complex with expandability to other FAA activities at different locations. The software (Activa) can accomplish this with minimal licensing costs. (3) The accommodation of multiple concurrency in the modeling, data input, reporting, and view modes. Activa has the capability of producing a single data base for multiple and master models with a common Activity Dictionary. (3) Built-in customization capability, a source code is provided for customization which can be extended to the model itself. (4) Unlimited historical data period data storage, security read/write protection at the finest levels of detail, and effective dating to accommodate reorganizations.
