This combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be isssued. The solication document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 90-38. Line Item 0001 shall be for one Hitachi Software FMBIO Florescence Image Scanner System. The FBI requires a scanner with the ability to detect two different Florescent colors simulateously yeilding it caspable of twice the throughput of other commercially available flatbet flourescent scanners. Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd. of San Bruno, California is the only manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. Reference footnote number 22.
