70 -- DCS 2000 SOL 52-SOBC-6-00003 POC Gloria Smith, 301/457-1867, FAX 301/457-1785 DATA CAPTURE SYSTEM FOR THE YEAR 2000 DECENNIAL CENSUS - The Bureau of the Census intends to acquire via competitive RFP a large scale, image based, data capture system to support the Year 2000 Decennial Census. This RFP will be for the acquisition of equipment, supplies and services associated with the design, development and testing of a pre-production DCS 2000 system (i.e. Phase I) and for the full-scale development, production and national deployment and post-Decennial Census transition of the DCS 2000 production systems (i.e. Phase II). Contractors interested in receiving a copy of this solicitation must submit their request in writing to the above address and reference Solicitation No. 52-SOBC-6-00003. The BOC is planning to conduct a facility tour of the Jeffersonville, Indiana location on approximately September 5, 1996. This is a tentative date. The solicitation will contain all the necessary information relative to the tour. In addition, the BOC would like to announce the availability of the DS250, which is the latest version of the BOC Paper Transport System's Design and Assembly Documentation and Blueprints. This is the paper transport systems used in current BOC imaging and microfilming projects. The BOC is making these blueprints available to interested parties for information only so that interested parties can see the concepts behind the BOC's design and to facilitate technology transfer of a government design to the private sector.
