(310) 268-4239 West Los Angeles VA Medical Center announces the Invitation to bid on Autopsy Preparation and Morgue Maintenance Service. Contractor will perform in compliance with VA Medical Center and Laboratory policies and procedures including safety and computer procedures. Contractor will receive decedents remains (approximately 450-550 cadavers a year). Maintain registers of incoming bodies, verifies accurate identification via hospital ID tags and bracelets, ensure that bodies are appropriately bagged/wrapped and soiled linen removed. Ensures established levels of sanitation based on infection control policies. Maintain instruments and tools are sharpen, clean and sterile. Collects and package ''sharps'' and other contaminated items for disposal for removal and disposition. Prepares solutions for utilization during autopsy and specimen storage and for conference presentations. Collects and preserves autopsy and surgical tissue for retrieval and review for special studies, research and.or teaching functions.
