The Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to issue a solicitation on or about September 10, 1996, for the construction of a high security housing unit at the Federal Medical Center Carswell located at Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Carswell Field, Texas. The project will consist of, but is not limited to, approximately 16,500 sq. feet of floor space, single story, to include administrative and visiting areas as well as an inmate housing wing. The building construction will consist of concrete, structural steel, CMU construction, metal roof and metal roof deck, dampproofing, insulation, builders and security hollow metal doors, frames and windows with security glazing, interior finishes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, electronic security, fire protection, and detention equipment. Also included will be a fenced recreation area, covered walkway, site work, retaining walls and utilities installations and connections. The successful bidder will be required to furnish all labor, equipment, and materials to complete the project. The construction cost is estimated to be between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
