Energy Systems, Inc., acting for and on behalf of the U.S. Government
as represented by the U.S. Department of Energy under its Prime
Contract No. DE-AC05-84OR21400 is offering for sale U.S.
Government-owned inventories of vacuum vessels. Vacuum vessels,
previously used in the Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope program and exposed
to depleted Uranium (0.3% U235) metal vapor and consequently have
surface radiological contamination, consisting of: Material Handling
Demonstration Module, 304 L stainless, weighting approximately 26,000
lbs., 86 in. dia. X 23 ft. lg., containing approximately 25 kgs
depleted uranium, features include a design temperature of 300 degrees
Fahrenheit, a design pressure of full vacuum, double wall construction
to facilitate liquid cooling, and the inclusion of numerous viewpoints.
Both heads are readily removable with the use of specially designed air
pallet and dolly assemblies that are integral with the heads. This unit
was fabricated, examined, and tested in accordance with Section VIII,
Div. 1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes. Electron Beam-1 304 L
stainless steel, 30 in. dia. X 9 ft. lg., containing approximately 5
kgs depleted uranium, approximately 6,000 lbs., similar design features
as Lot 1. Material Test Unit, 30 in. dia. X 6 ft. lg., 304 L stainless
steel, containing approximately 3 kgs depleted uranium, approximately
6,000 lbs., similar design features as Lot 1. Subsystem Test Unit, 30
in. dia. X 6 ft. lg., 304 L stainless steel, containing approximately
3 kgs depleted uranium, approximately 6,000 lbs., similar design
features as Lot 1. NOTE: Potential uses for these vacuum vessels
include treatment chambers, environmental test chambers,
decontamination process vessels, etc. To express interest in bidding on
