CONTRACTORS PREVIOUSLY PRE-QUALIFIED UNDER SOLICITATION
193045-96-A-0018. The U.S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals for
a new construction owned facility to be called North Carrier Annex,
Springfield MO. Description of the work is: The site is bounded by
Kansas Expressway on the east and Bennett Street on the south. A
pre-bid meeting will be held at the site on Tuesday, August 20, 1996,
beginning at l:00 PM. The purpose is to disucss project phasing and
tour the existing buildings which are to be demolished or removed.
Information discussed at this meeting will be issued an an amendment to
the contract documents. The project consists of construction of a
one-story facility of approximately 30,000 GSF of building area
including a suspended lookout (LOG) system, mechanical mezzanine and a
covered mail platform of approximately 2,500 GSF. The project also
consists of the phased demolition/removal (contractor's option) from
the site of several existing metal buildings and structures and the
construction and removal of a temporary loading dock for postal service
use during construction. The Postal Service will continue operations in
one of the existing metal buildings during the construction phase. The
building consists of concrete foundations, concrete slab-on-grade
floors, steel column and roof framing system, exterior face brick and
block on metal studs, roof insulation and unballasted, single-ply roof
membrane on metal dock, plumbing, heating, ventilating and air
conditioning systems, water, electrical and sanitary systems. The size
is approximately 356,648 SF (8.187 acres). Site work includes grading,
storm water drainage and detention system, lighting, parking areas and
access drives, landscaping and irrigation system, grading, paving and
maintenance of a temporary parking lot and access drive, phased
demolition/removal of existing metal structures, capping of existing
utilities and construction and demolition of a temporary loading dock.
