United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has a requirement for Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radios (MIBTRs). The MIBTRs are miniaturized/lighweight handheld team radios that will operate on a user selected frequency from 30 to 512 MHz; weigh less than 3 pounds with battery (3 lbs required/1.5 lbs desired); and include embedded COMSEC (required VINSON 12/16 Kbs encryption rate and fascinator compatible). USSOCOM intends to award a cost-sharing RDT&E effort for limited development/modification of existing commercial products followed by a firm-fixed-price production option. The option shall be structured in ranges to cover anticipated approx. quantity of 4,000 units in years 1998 through 2003.
