One (1) each Alcoa Fujikura FSM-30S Single Fiber Fusion Splicer Kit on a Brand Name or equal basis. Kit includes fusion splicer, one (1) each, CT-07 cleaver base, one (1) each, AC power cord, one (1) each, rugged FRP case, one (1) each, spare electrodes, one (1) pair, spare mirror, one (1) each, tool set (to include tweezers and 1.5mm hexagon wrench), one (1) each and FP-3 splicer protection sleeves, fifty (50) each. The fusion splicer must meet the following salient characteristics in order to be eligible for award: (a) provide estimated splice losses, (b) automatic inspection of prepared fiber ends, (c ) automatic measurement of cleave angles, (d) able to splice both single-mode and multi-mode fibers, (e) provide automatic core-to-core fiber alignment, (f) store fiber splicers in memory, (g) switchable cleave angle check, 3 or 5 degrees, (h) built-in tube heater, and (i) splice loss: .03dB for single-mode, .02dB for multi-mode. The salient characteristics for the required cleaver are: (a) must be capable of cleaving both 900 micro meter and 250 micro meter fiber and (b) cleave length must be variable between 10 millimeters and 20 millimeters for 900 micro meter fiber and 6 millimeters to 20 millimeters for 250 micro meter fiber. The salient characteristics for the splice protection sleeves are: (a) single fiber and (b) non-magnetic. All items to be delivered thirty (30) days after receipt of order. Delivery in Washington, DC 20374. The Government intends to solicit for this requirement by means of request for written quote. Anticipated award date is no later than 30 September 1996. Applicable SIC Code is 3357 (Firm must have no more than 1000 employees to qualify as Small Business).
