Dilworth, Contracting Officer, 202/874-2677. The Bureau of Engraving
and Printing (BEP) is conducting market research on the availability of
special use leased space located within a 75-mile radius of its
Washington, D. C. facility for secure vault/semi-vault storage of
materials. Materials will be packed on 25'' x 45'' skids, weighing on
an average of 1,400 lbs. Each skid measures approximately 52 inches in
height. Materials must be stored in a climatically controlled
environment that can be maintained at an average temperature of 73
degrees Fahrenheit (+/- 3 degrees F.) with an average relative humidity
of 50 percent (within a range of 45% - 52% RH). The total secured
storage space sought is 20,000 ft2 - 25,000 ft2, with a clear ceiling
height of at least 11.5 ft. The structure should be constructed of
reinforced concrete and capable of supporting heavy floor load
capacities of over 400 lbs. per square foot (psf). Industrial lighting
should provide a minimum level of 10 foot candles at 30 inches above
finished floor. An adjacently located secured loading dock that can
accomodate 55-foot tractor trailer deliveries, with a minimum turning
radius of 50 feet, is required. Governing codes and regulations for the
specified space include, but are not limited to, National Building Code
(Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA)
as modified to include the technical requirements of the Life Safety
Code (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)). Interested sources
are requested to submit information regarding available space, with
specified costs, to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Office of
Procurement, 14th and C Streets, S. W., Room 708-A, Attn: Ernest M.
Dilworth, no later than thirty (30) calendar days after publication of
this notice. Information should outline physical dimensions and
structural design; door hardware and frame construction, and associated
locks; and, facility security; ie., access control, intrusion detection
and CCTV. Additional information regarding power supplies, perimeter
fencing and lighting, available office space, toilet facilities,
parking accommodations and proximity to highway access should also be
addressed. No telephone requests will be honored. The BEP may contact
those companies determined to be capable of supplying the leased space
described herein for more information. The Government is in no way
obligated to pay for information submitted, nor reimburse companies for
