Cox, Negotiator,(703) 325-1196, Scott G. Morton, Contracting Officer,
(703) 325-1200. The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) plans to
award a sole source bridge contract to Science Applications
International Corporation (SAIC). SAIC will screen High Temperature
Incendiary (HTI) materials for the best lethality performance of
equipment or chem-bio agents; generate and measure physical and
chemical environments through combustion of HTI materials in scaled
chambers; and utilize engineering codes to support test planning and
data analyses. The contemplated period of performance is six months.
DSWA believes that SAIC is the only source able to fill this
requirements within this period because of its familiarity with the
overall program and its unique experimental apparatus, including 1/24th
scale and 1/16th scale chambers as well as a particular heat flux cage.
Any other firm desiring consideration must fully identify its
capability to perform the requirement. A solicitation will be issued to
SAIC on or about 23 Aug 96. A competitive solicitation
(DNA001-96-R-0050) for the follow-on effort is described in a separate
announcement in this CBD issue. For further information contact Thomas
Cox at (703) 325-1196. Information on DNA solicitations, already
