59 -- MICROWAVE TRAVELING WAVE TUBES (TWTS) 40 WATT POC Point of contact, Ms. Flo Martin, Contract Specialist, Code 1163WM, 812-854-3689, fax requests to 812-854-1841 The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking prospective sources to provide microwave traveling wave tubes (TWTs) to be used in the AEGIS AN/SPY-1 Radar Transmitter. The TWTs must be manufactured in accordance with preliminary specification WS-9937/4B. A copy of the specification will be provided to interested parties. The closing date for specification requests is 23 August 1996. The potential source must provide a budgetary estimate (closing date for submission of response is 27 September 1996) for the manufacture of two (2) engineering samples and ten (10) qualification samples for government evaluation, fully compliant with WS-9937/4B. The budgetary estimate should not include the qualification requirements of WS-9937/4B, paragraph 3.4. Engineering samples must be delivered by 1 June 1998. Qualification samples must be delivered by 1 April 1999. It is anticipated that production TWT deliveries will be required beginning in FY 2000 at a rate of 40 to 45 TWTs per year. Approximately 1000 TWTs will be required to support the effective service life of AEGIS Class Cruisers and Destroyers. Note: 1. The preliminary specification is unclassified, but contains coded parameters defined in CONFIDENTIAL NAVORD drawing number 10001-2903265. Prospective sources must carry at least a CONFIDENTIAL security clearance. Clearances will be verified through Defense Investigative Services prior to the release of the specification. 2. Specification shall not be provided outside of the United States.
