billie.r.blackwell.1@gsfc.nasa.gov, Darlene B. Floyd, Contracti
Officer, 804-824-1410, darlene.b.floyd.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. This is a
notice of intent to issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) 972-79949/712 on
a sole source basis in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) ''Only One
Responsible Source'' to Big Sky Laser, POB 8100, Bozeman, MT
59715-2001. Item 1 - one each mini laser system, p/n CFR 400, with SHG
and THG, and shall meet the following specifications: Dual wavelength
pulsed ND: YAG. Spectral wavelengths: 532 nm at greater than 125 mj --
pulse width (NSEC, FWHM) less than 10; 355 nm at greater than 60 mj --
pulse width (NSEC, FWHM) less than 8. Temporal - pulse repetition
frequency: 10 hz. Spatial - divergence: less than 2 mrad, 86% energy
content. Mechanical - laser head: size-- 3.3'' x 3.7'' x 12.7''
(weight-less than 10 lbs); electronics/ cooling: size--8.5'' x 11.5''
x 18'' (weight--less than 45 lbs.). Environmental - electronics/cooler:
environmentally sealed; operating temperature: plus 10 deg. to plus 40
deg C; coolant type: distilled water; shock and vibration: portable --
transportation; maximum operating altitude: 10,000 ft. Electrical -
prime power: 28vdc; power consumption: less than 25a. Item 2 - one year
service contract to include a minimum of two preventative maintenance
checks on laser system under item 1. Item 3 - two each flash lamps for
item 1. Delivery to Wallops Island is required 90 days after award of
a purchase order. The laser system will be used as a transmitter for
the Wallops Airborne Oceanographic Lidar (AOL) System, which is flown
onboard the NASA/WFF P3A aircraft. In order to meet the requirements of
a smaller laser system to accommodate the aircraft, laser must have air
cooling and a lower power requirement (28vdc), yet have sufficient
laser pulse energy and repetition rate to assure good airborne results.
It is anticipated that the RFQ resulting in a purchase order will be
issued on or about August 27, 1996. Any firms desiring consideration
are requested to fully identify their capability to supply these items
within 15 days of the publication of this synopsis to GSFC/WFF and the
individual listed above. Collect calls not accepted. See Numbered
