Service, Midwest Areahas a requirement for maintenance and repair of
Government-owned Beckman equipment located at USDA-ARS-MWA, National
Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, Peoria IL for the period
October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1997. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. 5114-6-3034 is being
issued as a Request for Quotation. This solicitation document and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 90-38. This solicitation is unrestricted. CLIN

1301, 1 Periodic Preventive Maintenance Visits; Statement of Work:
Regularly scheduled service shall be arranged for in advance with the
Purchasing Office to assure operator attendance and inspection. Service
shall include a periodic preventative maintenance visit(s) as shown and
unlimited emergency service due to breakdown (not caused by negligence)
and all parts (except rotor and tubes unless otherwise indicated).
Excluded parts shall be covered on a separate purchase order(s).
Requested emergency services shall be performed within twenty-four (24)
hours of time called. Scheduled service on all instruments shall be
performed at least one during each six month period, unless otherwise
specified. Scheduled service shall consist of thoroughly cleaning,
calibrating and adjusting equipment in accordance with established
manufacturer's service procedures or recommendation and replacing
normal maintenance and repair material such as gaskets, witches, oils,
and greases as needed. Service reports shall be prepared for each
instrument serviced (indicating parts and labor charged), shall be
verified and signed by operating personnel and these reports must be
turned in to the purchasing office by the service representative.
Invoicing shall be accomplished quarterly in arrears. FAR 52.212-1,

Certifications - Commercial Items, and FAR 52.212-4 Contract Terms and
Conditions - Commercial Items apply to this acquisition. Quotations
will be evaluated on price and price related factors. Quotations are to
be received Not Later than the Close of Business, September 9, 1996 at
USDA-ARS-MWA, Contracting Office, 1815 N. University Street, Peoria,
