The U.S. Army, ARDEC is seeking information and potential sources to procure off-the-shelf, non-developmental ammunition for test and evaluation. There is potential for adoption and production for armed services use. The ammunition is desired to interface with standard US Forces issue 2.75 in, 12 Gauge shotguns. The objective is to obtain a family of 2.75 in, 12 gauge cartridges that significantly enhances the capability to enforce a standoff distance from belligerents without using deadly force. The ammunition will have the capability of engaging either single individual (point) targets and/or group (area) targets . The required terminal effect is rapid non-lethal incapacitation at ranges between 3m and 15.3 m for hits on the lower body or greater ranges on the torso against a point target and/or non-lethal effect between 3m and 6.1m on the lower body and between 6.1m to 21.4 m or greater on the torso for an area target. The incapacitation will be achieved with non-explosives and non-fragmenting projectiles. An incapacitation is any hit which causes an impacted individual to stop, become confused, disoriented and/or otherwise deter the individual. This requirement is to support Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW). Interested firms should submit literature/brochures, not exceeding twenty (20) pages, describing the technical capabilities of their candidate cartridges in response to the above criteria.
