Huntzinger, Close Combat Armaments Center, 201-724-6949, AMSMSTA-AR-CCL-B, BLDG 65N. 13 -- The U.S. Army, ARDEC is seeking information and potential sources of small arms prpellants for use in the Caliber .50 Blank cartridge, which currently uses Hi-Skor 700x. The desired goals of the alternate propellent are as follows, listed in order of priority: - A hazard classification of 1.3 or better, i.e., safer than a 1.1, - Long term product availability, i.e., producible over the next 15+ years, - Free of lead and other toxic materiakls as defined by the EPA, i.e., green, - Low cost, - Low case load positional ensitivity, i.e., via low bulk density or other means. This is only a Market Survey, not a pre-solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a pre-solicitation notice will be published.
