This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in acordance with the format in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.Solicitation number N00421-96-R-1156 is issued as a request for proposal (RFP).The incorporated document and provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-37 and Defense Acquisition Circular 91-10. This action is not set-aside for small business. The SIC code is 4812; small business size standard is 1500 employees. The contract line item is CLIN-001, Enhanced Airborne Multiplexers . The requirement is for a minimum 6 (Six), maximum 30 (thirty) Alliant Techsystems Enhanced Airborne Multiplexers Model 7895. The government intends an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity type contract and to solicit and negotiate the proposed contract on a sole source basis with Alliant Techsystems under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Alliant Techsystems is the sole qualified supplier of this equipment at the present time.This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, interested parties may submit a proposal in which they identify their interest and capability. All proposals received by 2:30 Eastern Statndard Time 21 August 1996 will be considered by the Government solely for the purpose of determining whether to initiate a competitive procurement. The Government reserves the right to process the procurement on a sole source basis based upon the responses received. The government will not pay for any information received.
