COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 14,1996 PSA#1658National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSCS 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/RM 634Bethesda, MD 20892-7228 66 -- ULTRACUT UCT SOL RFQ60113-NS POC Patricia Haun, Contracting
Officer, (301) 402-4509. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) requires
delivery and installation of a Ulatracut UCT from Leica Inc., 111 Deer
Lake Road, Deerfield, IL 60015. The Laboratory of Biochemistries
purpose of acquiring this instrument is to perform semithin (0.5 to 2
micron) and ultrathin (5 to 500 nanometers) physical sections of
embedded materials. The Leica Ultracut UCT possesses several key
features that make this instrument optimal for the research: 1) the
control panel allows for fully or semi-automated or manual sectioning
capability, and is the only ultramicrotome to have a computer interface
for data recording and sample processing; 2) the observation and
illumination system provides the best sample viewing capability,
allowing for precise sample orientation and trimming; 3) it is the only
ultramicrotome that has the capability to be equipped with an
optionalcryosectioning system. This system provides the widest range of
cutting speeds (00.05 to 100 mm/sec) and is necessary in order to
accommodate different types of tissue and embedding protocols. The
ultramicrotome has the ability to program speed/advance information to
allow individuals to save cutting programs specific to their needs.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals,
however, if any interested party believes they can meet the above, they
may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished shall
include enough material, in sufficient detail, to perform a proper
evaluation of their ability to perform and must be received within 20
days of the publication of this notice. See Note 22. (0225) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0454 19960813\66-0006.SOL)
