circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.96.235. 1.

Household lamps. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the
notified document: Draft Commission Directive Implementing Council
Directive 92/75/EEC with Regard to Energy Labelling of Household
Lamps...(18 pages-11 languages). 6. Description of content: The
proposal implements Council Directive No. 92/75 for Lamps. It will
introduce a compulsory, harmonized labelling scheme combined with the
provision of a harmonized energy information fiche. It will require
manufacturers to produce harmonized labels and fiches and retailers to
apply the labels to appliances whenever they are displayed. 7.
Objective and rationale: Rational energy use: the scheme will encourage
consumers to buy and manufacturers to sell, more energy-efficient
lamps. At the same time barriers to trade created by differing national
scheme will be avoided. 8. Relevant documents: Council Directive

date of adoption: October/November 1996. Proposed date of entry into
