Island, Nebraska. VA will provide all paints and primers to do work as
described. Contractor will provide all necessary labor, expertise,
insurance, equipment, and all other materials to do work as specified
as follows: Stairwells Building #1, contractor will perform plaster and
repair work of all stairwell surfaces to exclude the floors. Contractor
will prepare all surfaces; apply spot primer to all repaired surfaces
with oil-based primer; and apply two-coats of finish paint. Contractor
will sand and paint all painted stairwell doors and doorjambs. No work
will be performed on stained and finished doors. Contractor will apply
spot primer to bare wood or metal and apply two-coat paint finish.
Contractor will sand all stairwell railings; apply zinc chromate paint
to rusted areas; then apply two coats of oil-base finish to railings
once the zinc chromate is dry. Contractor will sand and repaint the
interior of all stairwell windows that are currently painted.
Contractor will apply spot primer to bare wood or metal and apply
two-coat paint finish. Building #1: Contractor shall prepare all
existing painted surfaces then paint all of the second floor corridors
of building #1. This includes doorjambs and interior side of windows.
Contractor will provide paint for brown stripe only. Contractor will
apply a two-coat finish application of the base color and a single
finish coat application of brown to the existing stripe. Contractor
will prepare all surfaces then apply two coats of finish paint to all
laundry areas to include clean side soiled linen side, break room, and
in two bathrooms. In room N507B contractor will prepare all surfaces;
then apply two coats of finish paint; and then apply wallpaper boarder
provided by the VAMC. In room NW114 contractor will prepare all
surfaces and then apply two coats of finish paint above the tile. In
room N309 contractor will remove existing wall paper; prepare all
surfaces; and then apply two-coats of finish paint to the walls.
Contractor shall prepare all existing painted surfaces and then apply
two coats of finish paint to the following areas: NE301, NE302, NE303,
NE304, NE305, NE306, NE310, NE312, NE314, NE315, breakroom, nurses
station, and main hall. The contractor will apply three coats of finish
paint to the accent walls to ensure coverage. Interior of Building #6:
contractor will prepare/repair surfaces and then paint walls of rooms
#5, #6, #7, and #11, corridors, baseboards, doors, doorjambs, and all
closets of building #6. Contractor will move any furniture, cabinets,
desks, etc. to center of rooms and cover with plastic. Contractor will
remove any curtains, hardware from windows and walls, signs, handrails,
switch plates, receptacle covers, pictures, bulletin boards, etc.
before painting. Contractor will reinstall/rehang after painting is
completed. Contractor will place back in original locations all
furniture, cabinet, etc. moved for work. Contractor will mask off/tape
off all mopboards, etc. to protect surfaces, and cover all floors
surfaces with plastic/tarps before painting. Contractor will perform
all minor drywall an plaster repair as required. Contractor will
spot-prime all patched surfaces. Contractor will apply a two-coat paint
finish to all surfaces identified. All work is to be done in strict
accordance with specifications and in accordance with the VA criteria
and standards and all applicable local and state building codes,
ordinances and regulations and the NFPA shall be considered where
applicable. SIC code 1721 will apply to this project. The Government
estimate is less than $100,000. Award is subject to the availability of
funds. Requests must be in writing. A pre-bid conference will be held
on August 30, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. Bid opening will be September 9, 1996
