The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement for services required to provide housing, maintenance, and medical services for government-furnished rabbit colony. The Contractor must be experienced in all phases of immunization, bleeding and housing of rabbits. The Molecular Pathophysiology Section, Metabolic Diseases Branch (MDB) uses rabbits for obtaining high quality antipeptide antisera that are critical tools in studies of ''G Proteins'' by the MDB. The Contractor's Animal Care and Use Program must be accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) and conform to the standards for animal care as outlined in the ''Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals'' as published in the DHHS Publication Number (NIH 86-23) or succeeding editions and the Public Health Service Policy on ''Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals'', Public Law 99-158, November 20, 1985 and revised September 1986. The Contractor shall have fully approved Animal Welfare Assurance on file with the Office for the Protection from Research Risks (OPRR) and must comply with all provisions of the Animal Welfare Act and other Federal statues and regulations relating to animals. It is the intent of the Institute to award a contract for One(1) Twelve(12) Month Period of Performance with Four(4) Successive Twelve(12) Month Option Periods. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available approximately fifteen (15) calendar days from publication of this announcement.
