Cox, Contracting Officer, 610-383-0203 Contractor shall provide all
labor, material, equipment and supervision to refurbish two (2) cooling
towers at the VA Medical Center, Coatesville, PA. The following work
will be performed to the interior sheet metal surface below the wet
deck (area below the cooling slats) of the two cooling towers: Metal
surfaces are to be pressure washed with a cleaning solvent to prepare
the area for a new coat of primer. Worn panel parts are to be repaired.
A continous seamless, positively bonded, clastomerc (or approved equal)
waterproof membrane. The membrane will be at least 50 mils thick. A
bead of polyurethane calk shall be applied to all sheetmetal seams. The
strainer assembly surface will be prepared and coated. A coat of cold
galvanizing compound (ZRC) will be applied to all areas below the wet
deck. Prepare all surfaces prior to painting per paint manufacturer
recommendation. Remove existing corrosion through scrapping and
grinding sheet metal to its original state. Any dried caulking material
will be removed and all seams will be sealed to eliminate the
possibility of leakage. The following procedures will be performed to
the exterior sheet metal surfaces of the two cooling towers: The
exterior of the cooling towers shall be sandblasted, primed and painted
(grind areas as required). Contractor shall remove all particulate
matter loosened by the grinding and sandblasting process. The primer
coat shall be Dupont 25p, or approved equal, with 2 coats, 6 mils
thick. The color will be selected by the VA. The finished coat shall be
Dupont Imron 333 or equal, which will be one coat, 6 mils thick. The
color will be selected by the VA. The estimated cost range for this
project is between $25,000 and $100,000. Solicitations will be mailed
to prime contractors only, due to a limited supply. Requests from prime
contractors must be in writing and may be faxed to the Contracting
Officer at 610-383-0235. Award of this contract is subject to the
availability of funds. Interested prime contractors should, as soon as
possible, but not later than fifteen (15) calendar days after
publication of this notice, indicate interest as bidding as a prime
contractor. The solicitation is an Invitation for Bids and will be
available not later than fifteen (15) calendar days after publication
of this notice, but within thirty (30) calendar days thereafter. Any
subcontractors requesting a copy of the solicitation will be sent a
copy of the Bidder's Mailing List. The Standard Industrial
Classification Code (SIC) for this project is 1721. The applicable
Small Business Size Standard, including affiliates, is no more that $7
million average annual gross revenue for the last three fiscal years.
Each business concern must also include its Federal Tax
Indentification Number. All responsible sources are encouraged to
