For informational purposes only. The United States Army
tank-automotive and armaments command is planning a competitive
acquisition for approximately 12,000 container roll-in/out platforms
(crops) in suppport of the palletized load system (pls), which were
described in the CBD announcement dated 11 Jul 96. It is planned to
solicit this requirement for crops with up to three awards, one of
which will be a small business set-aside. The crop is an a-frame type
flatrack with length and width slightly smaller than the M1077
flatrack, so that the crop will fit in a standard 20-foot ISO
container. The crop WI LL be required to be blocked and braced inside
the container such that NO damage will occur to the crop or the
container when subjected to rail impact testing at speeds up to 8.6
MPH. The crop will Carry the same types ofcargo, including ammunition,
as the M1 or M1077 flatracks. A draft specification is available for
industry COM ments and a response is required NO later than 9 Sep 96.
