26 -- MILITARY RETREAD TIRE PROGRAM POC POC: Brad Jackson (810) 574-8440/Mark Swift (810) 574-6510 TACOM is seeking to qualify responsible sources for ret Reading Government furnished tires for potential milita ry applications for special on/off Road vehicles. The tire size under consideration is the 11.00R20, load range H. Government testing and evaluation is scheduled to begin August 96. The opportunity to participate in the test program will only be provided those firms that have Commercial experience in retreading, are quality cert ified by either the International tire and Rubber association (formerly ARA) or the national tire dealers andretread association (ntdra), meet fmvss119 specificatio NS and/or have met ZZ-T-381 as applicable, perform iawzz-T-441, and the Army considers to be familiar with SAE J2014 pneumatic tires for Military tactical wheeled vehicles ''selected performance requirements''. The latest revision of SAE J2014 is available through SAE, which includes, but is not limited to mechanical reliability, ride handling and stability, traction, braking, and treadlife durability. Potential retreaders should also have the capability to examine the internal casing of the tires for ''anomalies'' through X-Ray, holography, ultrasound, or other nondestructive testing equipment as deem Ed appropriate by the Government; be able to provide expedient turn around for at least 5,000 retread tires per year through distribution networks, in regions established by TACOM. Only those firms that are deemed qualif ied through this testing, will be permitted to bid on afollow-on procurement for retreading services scheduled for award prior to February, 1997.
