NASA Goddard Space Flight Center intends to issue RFQ5-78769 on a sole source basis to Litton Systems, Inc. Polyscientific Division, 1213 North Main Street, Blacksburg, VA 24060-3100, for the purchase of one Gold/Fiber Brush Hardware Slip Ring and one Silver/Composite Brush Hardware Slip Ring under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C) (1)-Only One Responsible Source. The Gold/Fiber Brush Hardware Slip Ring assembly must have at least a 24 circuit rotor assembly consisting of twelve rings goldplated with a space applicable method and twelve rings gold-plated with a space applicable method which leaves a significantly thicker coating than the first. Two types of mating brush block assemblies shall be provided, one using beryllium copper fiber brushes and one using gold alloy plated fiber brushes. The following brush to ring material combinations are required: Six (6) circuits: Beryllium Copper fiber brush on thin gold plated ring, Six (6) circuits: Beryllium Copper fiber bursh on thick gold plated ring, Six (6) circuits: Gold Alloy Plate fiber brush on thin gold plated ring, Six (6) circuits: Gold Alloy Plate fiber brush on thick gold plated ring. Item must fit within the following dimensions: Total length less then or equal to 3.5 inches, maximum outer radius with brush block less then or equal to 2.7 inches. The Silver/Compositte Brush Hardware Slip Ring assembly must have at least a twelve circuit rotor assembly consisting of six coin silver rings and six silver plated rings. One type of brush block shall be provided utilizing a silver/molybdenum/graphite composite technology. The following brush to ring material combinations are required: Six (6) circuits: Composite Brush on coin silver ring, Six (6) circuits: Composite brush on silver plated ring. Item must fit within the following dimensions: Total length less then or equal to 3.5 inches, maximum outer radius with brush block less then or equal to 2.7 inches.
