THE CONTROL CENTER COMPLEX (CCC), AT THE NASA JOHNSON SPACE CENTER

by Lockheed Martin Space Information Systems (Lockheed Martin) in
support of NASA Johnson Space Center contract NAS9-18300. The draft
Technical Requirement for a Configuration Management Product is being
released to industry for review by interested sources. This is not a
Request For Proposal (RFP); it is a Request for Information purposes
only as contemplated by Paragraph 15.405 of the Federal Acquisition
Regulation (FAR). Lockheed Martin, on behalf of NASA Lyndon B. Johnson
Space Center, Houston TX, is requesting information to identify
potential subcontractors who can provide an OPTICAL FIBER SWITCH. This
is an initial release of the Optical Fibre Switch requirements.
Critical product features include the following: SWING LAN CONTROLLER
NEEDED Summary: An optical fiber switch is needed to allow rapid LAN
reconfiguration. The switch will be adjacent to and connected to a
bridge and will switch between two FDDI LAN segments so that one LAN
segment will be connected to the bridge while the other LAN segment
will bypass the bridge. Local control is required and remote control
via RS-232 interface is desired. The switch must meet FDDI PMD
standards and support standard MIC or ST receptacles. General
Requirements: 1. The switch shall provide multiple swing (switching)
capabilities to FDDI LAN segments. 2. The switch shall comply to FDDI
PMD standards. 3. The switch type may be latching or non-latching. 4.
The switch shall be compatible with 62.5/125 micron 1300nm multimode
fibre. 5. The switch shall support MIC or ST receptacles. 6. The switch
shall provide Local and Remote Control operating modes. The remote mode
should use RS-232 compatible interface. 7. The switch should have a
user login and password protection scheme for local and remote access.
8. The switch chasis shall have LEDS or equivalent indicators so that
the current position of switches can be determined locally.
Information submitted by vendors in response to this RFI will be used
for evaluation purposes only and will not impose any obligation,
liability or cost on the part of Lockheed Martin. Respondents may or
may not be notified concerning evaluation results of any information
submitted. Responses to the RFI will be due by August 30, 1996. Send

solutions and product descriptions regarding Commercial-Off-The-Shelf
software must be limited to currently available and industry proven
products and versions. Lockheed Martin will not provide any prospective
offerors with the comments submitted by other companies, nor will
Lockheed Martin provide prospective offerors with the results of our
dispositioning, other than through a formal RFP, which may be issued at
a later date. Also, at this time, Lockheed Martin does not plan to
conduct a presolicitation conference in the event a formal RFP is
issued. The following provisions apply to this RFI: a. This RFI is for
planning purposes and as such, Lockheed Martin does not intend to
award a subcontract on the basis of this RFI or to pay or otherwise
reimburse any offeror for any information received. b. This RFI is
issued for the sole purpose of obtaining information, and suggestions
from prospective offerors. Offerors may or may not be notified
concerning evaluation results of any information submitted. Lockheed
Martin appreciates your interest in the subject RFI solicitation
