99 -- STAR SENSOR SOL RFP5-58074/506 POC Joan W. Tomasello, Contracting Officer, (301)286-6535. NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP5-58074/506), on a competitive basis, for a Star Sensor (SS) for the Microwave Anisotropy Probe (MAP) Attitude Control System (ACS). The basic contract resulting from this solicitation will require delivery of one SS and may include an option for one additional SS. The SS design is dictated by performance requirements of the MAP spacecraft. The SS is the primary sensor on the MAP spacecraft, providing attitude updates to the attitude determination system. The basic contract period of performance is 18 months. This will be a firm fixed price contract. The RFP is scheduled to be released on/about 6 September 1996 with anticipated contract award on/before 6 January 1997.
