Geological Survey (USGS) intends to issue a solicitation on a
non-competitive basis for a procurement with Autometric, Inc., of
Alexandria, Virginia for software and hardware maintenance. Based on
information available at this time, the Government considers the
required hardware and software maintenance to be a sole source.
Performance requires the Contractor to have a high level security
clearance. The software and hardware to be maintained are located in
Reston, Virginia and Denver, Colorado. Options for additional systems
bought in the future will be included. These additional systems may be
at locations throughout the United States. The Contractor would be
required to provide maintenance and source revision updates for the
following configuration: HARDWARE INFORMATION: Hardware: SGI Indigo2
Extreme graphics workstation model CMNB003B, internal 2GB SCSI disk and
CDROM drive, 20'' Multi-scan tilt-swivel Color Monitor, 8mm Exabyte 5GB
external tape drive, Silo cabinet, with 2 SCSI II - 9GB disk drives,
(Stereo Viewing and collection tool) Immersion Interface Box, Stereo
viewer emitter W/2 eyewear, Softmouse, photogrammetric input device,
SGI Challenge Iris L series 1 - 2 GB Hard Drive model CMNA011 SGI Power
Supply model CMNA012, SGI Hard Drives model CMNAS02, Toshiba America
Info. Systems CD-ROM Drive model TXM3401E1, Falcon Systems, Inc. Tape
Drive, Metrum Information Storage model RSP-2150; SOFTWARE: Irix
operating system, Softplotter Professional, Data Master Ver. 2.1,
National Models, and Terramodel, surface modeling. Sources offering
software maintenance must have a license agreement with Autometric,
Inc., as they are the original manufacturer and have proprietary
rights. The anticipated period of performance for this contract will be
a base year with four option years. Firms who believe they can provide
the required software and/or hardware maintenance services are invited
to submit an affirmative response within 45 days of the publication
date of this notice in accordance with note number 22. Interested
parties may respond with information on capabilities for both hardware
and software maintenance or they may respond with capabilities for
only the hardware or the software. Responses should include full
technical information on the vendor in such detail to enable the
Government to confirm the submitter~s capabilities to maintain the
hardware and/or software. All such responses will be evaluated in order
to determine whether that firm has full knowledge of the USGS's
requirement for maintenance of existing hardware and software in
accordance with the above mandatory requirements. An affirmative
response shall include literature, brochures, and other such
information corresponding to the required items which demonstrates the
capabilities of the offeror's services. This notice is for
