Turner, (303)236-5900 x348 Concerns having the ability to furnish the property described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above with forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of this synopsis. USGS has a requirement for a perpherial device for the MAT 251 mass spectrometer for the automated preparation of large numbers of small samples of carbonates for carbon and oxygen isotope analyses. This device will supplement and eventually replace the perhperial device for carbonate preparation currently in use on the MAT 251. The Multiprep Sample Prepartion System with Robotic Sampler meets the requirements for small samples of CO2 to be produced from carbonates or equilibrated with water in individual containers, purified and carried into the mass spectrometer for isotopic analyses. This peripheral device shall analyse small samples of carbonate and water for isotopic analyses. The peripheral shall operate on software which is can synchronize with existing ISPDAT software which drives the automated mass spectrometer. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the item specified as a sole source from Mountain Mass Spectrometry, P.O. Box 2693, Evergreen, CO 80439 and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required item or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such othere materials which correspond to the required item stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration.
