The National Inst. of Health, National Cancer Inst. intends to obtain services from Corning Nichols Inst., 33608 Ortega Hgwy., San Juan Capistrano, Ca. 92690. The Institute is assessing breast cancer case-control differences in serum levels of 3 androgens (testosterone, androstenedione, and DHEA). There is substantial interest in the possibility that higher levels of endogenous androgens may increase the risk of breast cancer. The Corning Nichols Inst. has demonstrated a superior measurement of androgens, by having the lowest coefficients of variations and the highest intraclass correlations. This has been demonstrated by previous feasibility studies to degermine the reproducability of androgen hormone assay results on the same day for large scale epidemiologic surveys. There will be 487 samples assayed for each androgen. This is not a request for competitive proposals, as no solicitation will be issued. However, vendors who believe they can meet the Government's requirement may submit their qualifications. The submission must be in writng and must contain sufficient detail so that a determination can be made regarding meeting the Governments requirement. The submission must be recieved by COB 9/13/96.
