Marine Corps is conducting a market research to collect information illustrating the technical and functional characteristics for a .50 Caliber Inbore Subcaliber Training Device for the 120mm M1A1 main battle tank. This training device will be used for main gun firing practice, therefore, the device shall be simple, rugged, and easily maintained. The major characteristics of the system shall include, but are not limited to, (1) use standard .50 caliber ammunition types, (2) easily installed by the crew in less than 15 minutes, (3) accuracy shall be equal to the 120mm main gun, (4) Meet a 2000 meter range capability and a surface danger area less than 6700 meters, (5) shall be used with a fully operational fire control system and interface to firing circuit, (6) all crew members have same position and tasking as during combat, (7) main gun reload time remains the same, (8) it shall be easily supportable, all components shall be interchangeable, no crew adjustments needed. Interested companies are requested to submit the following data, (as a minimum) no later than 1 October 1996: (1) catalogs or other published product literature that describes the product and product capability, (2) standard commercial agreements that describe the practices in producing, distributing, and support commercial items, i.e., terms for warranties, maintenance, packaging, and marking, (3) delivery schedules, (4) cost estimates, and, (5) business size and status. This information shall be used to determine if the training device is a commercial or non-developmental item suitable to meet the technical and functional characteristics stated above.
