combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a
written solicitation will be placed only in the CBD. (ii) Solicitation
No. 32-91H2-96 is being issued as an Invitation For Bid. (iii) The
solicitation document applies and incorporates provisions and clauses
in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-38. (iv) This
procurement is open to all responsible sources. The SIC Code is 3844
and the Size Standard is 500 employees. (v) The item solicited is a
Low-energy X-Ray image intensifier tube with a 9 inch Beryllium
entrance field and 25 mm output image, with power supply included. (vi)
The power supply electrode voltages must be very stable and well
smoothed. The electrode voltage ripple of the power supply must not
exceed 0.3%. The input voltage options for the power supply are 24 Vdc
or 110/220 Vac. The unit must have a built-in, high capacity dynamic
ion-getter pump with fully automatic operation. The X-Ray image
intensifier will be used as a high resolution, low x-ray energy
detector and amplifier for imaging agricultural materials, particularly
seeds, nuts and fruit. As a minimum specification, we require as a 9
inch Beryllium window for this device to be able to use x-rays of 10KV
or lower, required for contrast. To our knowledge, the only known
manufacturer is Thomson Components and Tubes Corporation, Thomson
Electron Tube Division, of Totowa, New Jersey. (vii) All items shall be
delivered FOB destination to the USDA, Agricultural Research Service,
Western Regional Research Center, 800 Buchanan Street, Albany,
California, 94710, on or before 120 days from the date of contract
award, Mon-Fri, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. Inspection and acceptance shall be
performed at Western Regional Research Center, Albany, California.
(viii) The following FAR provisions apply to this solicitation;

their offer a completed copy of provision 52.212-3, Offeror

52.212-3 are available upon request from the Contracting Officer.) (ix)

offers are due by 4:00 pm, local time, Albany, CA 94710 on September
