The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to purchase Laboratory Equipment from Spectra Tech Inc. The Institute intends to purchase laboratory equipment BY OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION from Spectra Tech Inc., they are recommended the sole source for the Purchase Order. The intended source Spectra Tech Inc., is the exclusive distributor of the IR-Plan Advantage Microscope for the Mid Atlantic Region. The IR-PLAN ADVANTAGE MICROSCOPE is used for infrared spectroscopic studies involving the identification of microdomain structures formed in cellular membranes. By coupling the microscope to our existing infraned Bomem-Michelson interferometer and Oriel interferometer, we will be able to perform both point spectroscopic and infrared imaging spectroscopic experiments on biological tissues. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. All request for quotations must be in within the Simplified Acquisition Thereshold $100,000. It is anticipated that Request for Quotation (RFQ) Number NIH-NIDDK-96-213 will be available within fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 17, 1996.
