The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) the research and development agency of the US Department of Justice, wishes to issue a correction regarding the first submission deadline date for the NIJ ``Solicitation for Law Enforcement, Courts and Corrections Technology Development, Implementation and Evaluation.'' The first submission deadline date is hereby changed from Sunday, September 15, 1996 to Monday, September 16, 1996. Proposals submitted for the September 16, 1996 deadline must be received at NIJ no later than 5:00 pm, eastern time, on September 16. The second and final proposal submission deadline date of Friday, November 1, 1996, remains unchanged. Proposals submitted for the November 1, 1996 deadline must be received at NIJ no later than 5:00 pm, eastern time, on November 1. The NIJ ``Solicitation for Law Enforcement, Courts and Corrections Technology Development, Implementation and Evaluation'' seeks proposals for the development, testing, evaluation, adoption and implementation of new and innovative technologies to support and enhance law enforcement, courts and corrections operations, particularly at the State and local level. Proposals describing innovative and resourceful use of existing technologies to address criminal justice applications will also be considered. The solicitation seeks not only proposals to develop, test and implement criminal justice technologies, but also proposals to evaluate the organizational and bahavioral impacts of the use of specific technologies in the criminal justice system. Individual or public-private partnership proposed efforts are expected. NIJ expects have $10 million to $15 million available to fund awards made under this solicitation. There will be two proposal submission deadline dates: September 16, 1996 and November 1, 1996. However, award decisions for proposals submitted for the November 1 deadline will be based on remaining funds available. The ``Solicitation for Law Enforcement, Courts and Corrections Technology Development, Implementation and Evaluation'' was released on August 1, 1996.
