1443-RQ-2000-96-136 POC Sue Trujillo, 303/969-2057 The National Park
Service (NPS), Denver Service Center, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, P.O.
Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225 is seeking a qualified firm, individual,
or group to assist NPS staff in their responsibility to manage its
cultural and natural resources in an effective, culturally informed
manner. In order to accomplish this, the NPS requires the analysis of
ethnographic information about contemporary user groups with ties to
specific park areas. The proposed ethnographic overview and assessment
focuses on the Civil War Defenses of Washington (CWDW, aka Fort Circle
Parks) and Anacostia Park and immediate environs, and the associated
resources that contemporary user groups define as having significance.
Emphasis is on the relevant groups with long term or presently active
associations with the park areas and the cultural and natural
resources to which they ascribe recreational, religious, historic, or
other cultural significance. The principal investigator must be a
cultural anthropologist (ethnographer) with a Ph.D (equivalent to a
GS-12 level federal employee), or the equivalent as reflected in a
publication and professional activity record. The record must
demonstrate experience in the independent design and implementation of
cultural anthropological field projects involving contemporary
peoples; experience in applied anthropology and collaborative studies
involving groups represented in Washington D.C.; experience in
supervising graduate students in cultural anthropology projects; and
the demonstrated ability to carry ethnographic research to completion
as evidenced by timely completion of projects and reports, published
papers, conference presentations. The Government estimates that the
cost of this order will be under $50,000.00. A Request for Quotations
will be issued approximately 15 days after publication of this
requirement. Interested parties should contact Ms. Sue Trujillo by FAX
at 303-969-2040 to obtain a copy of the solicitation. This requirement
is reserved exclusively for small business concerns. (0233) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0008 19960821\B-0001.SOL)
