Privott, 757/441-6561 The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Markey Machinery Co., Seattle, Washington for labor and material to overhaul and modify a government owned Markey DESS-3 Oceanographic Winch to utilize a government owned AC-SCR-DC drive system. Work to be performed in accordance with Markey DESS-3 winch technical manual, System Interface technical data for DESH-5 drive system and Markey Drawing 32990 for DESS-3 winch as revised 5/24/96. Place of delivery is the NOAA Ship Oregon II. Pacific Marine Center, 1801 Fairview Avenue East, Seattle, WA. Performance period is 60 days after date of contract. Authority: 41 USC 253(c)(1). Markey Machinery Co. is the only known source capable of performing the required overhaul. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Evidence must be provided of ability to provide the required equipment. Copies of the solicitation will only be provided in response to written or faxed requests received directly from the requestor.
