R -- EVALUATION OF EISENHOWER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS SOL RFP-97-001 DUE 100496 POC YOLANDA L ABNEY, 202-708-6498, Dorothy A. Hunter, 202-708-9256. R - The U. S. Department of Education, intends to award a 38 month contract for a study on the Evaluation of the Eisenhower Professional Development Program. Consistent with the provisions of Public Law 103-382, Part G - Evaluations, the Department anticipates awarding a contract of approximately &1, 500,000 for the study. The contractor shall evaluate the effectiveness of the program in terms of its contribution to comprehensive education reform through support for high quality professional development to improve the knowledge and skills needed by teachers to help students achieve high standards. The contractor shall evaluate the contribution of the program in coordination with and as an intregal part of comprehensive federal, state, and local education reform efforts. The contractor shall examine both operation and outcomes of the program to evaluate its effectiveness. The contractor shall identify what is working, what is not working and what needs to be changed to improve the effectiveness of the program.
