Dept., Exhibition maintenance is a necessary and highly specialized
activity in all museums. The preservation of art and artifacts while on
exhibit for public education and or entertainment has specific
requirements. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) is
obliged to maintain a specific prescribed level of Cleanliness for the
well-being and the preservation of art and artifacts on exhibit. Art
and artifacts are exhibited at the USHMM in an ``open case'' design
presentation. Soils from the Museum's air handling system, visitors'
and employees' clothing, shoes and hair collects and is deposited on
the exhibition furnishings, supports and the art and artifacts. These
soils must be removed in a specific manner on a daily and scheduled
basis. Due to the invaluable and historic nature of the objects on
exhibit, cleaning techniques and materials are not ordinary; they are
highly specialized and require a specially trained contract Exhibit
Maintenance Team (EMT) and a qualified Project Manager (PM). PM must
have a minimum of three (3) years specialization in performing this
level of exhibits maintenance management and supervision. The
performance time will be one basic year with four, one year options.
Request should reference solicitation number and project name. This
proposed contract is a 100% small business set aside. See Numbered Note
