52-SOBC-6-00007 POC Carol Kukich, 301/457-4422 The U.S. Bureau of the
Census (BOC) is seeking a systems integrator who can provide a total
solution for the BOC's Data Access and Dissemination System (DADS).
This vendor, in coordination with the BOC staff, will provide the
hardware, software, and other support required to develop DADS
prototypes and ultimately, a Production System. In providing systems
integration, the vendor will be expected to provide personnel
experienced in researching, planning, designing, and implementing
evolving technologies concerning access, extraction, and tabulation of
very large-scale, high-performance, distributed data bases across
multiple hardware and software platforms. This system will be
implemented to facilitate the dissemination of BOC demographic and
economic information. It is anticipated that this effort will consist
of a one year base period with eight (8) one year renewal options. This
competitive procurement will be conducted using a new streamlined
acquisition process described in a document entitled ''Department of
Commerce Acquisition Process Case for Change'' which is located on the
World Wide Web at (http://www.uspto.gov/web/doc/bpr). The intent of
this new process is to provide an improved acquisition environment
which will benefit both the vendor community and the Government. As
part of this process, a DADS Project Agreement with accompanying
attachments, will be made available on the Internet at
(http://www.conops.doc.gov/dads.html) on or about September 10, 1996.
In accordance with the new acquisition process, the DADS Project
Agreement will serve as the solicitation document for this requirement.

considered for award of a resulting contract. For interested parties
