ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS 33RD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONIC WARFARE TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM & CONVENTION POC Association of Old Crows Convention Department, (703) 549-1600. The Association of Old Crows (AOG) will conduct their 33rd Annual International Electronic Warfare Technical Symposium and Convention 29 September - 2 October 1996 at the Washington Hilton and Towers Hotel, Washington DC. The theme of this year's symposium is ``Electronic Warfare and Information Warfare for Modern Military Applications.'' The 1996 Technical Symposium Chairman will be Dr. John H. O'Hara, Deputy Chief Scientist, NSA. The program will feature current evolving policy, operations, procurement approaches and technology driven by the texture of the threat environment and the new emphasis on an integrated information warfare approach to all things military. The symposium provides a forum where U.S. and allied participants can discuss critical EW issues with their counterparts in the military, government, and industry. Day one of the symposium, 1 October, will open with the presentation of annual AOC awards and will be immediately followed by a keynote address from The Honorable Alan K. Simpson (R-WY). Following the keynote will be briefings from Vice Admiral Norman Ray, USN, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Support, Mr. Keith Hall, Acting Director, National Reconnaissance Office, The Honorable Emmett Paige, Jr., Assistant Secretary of Defense (Command, Control, Communications & Intelligence), Lt Gen Kenneth Minihan, USAF, Director, National Security Agency, Commodore Ted Heath, RCN, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence SHAPE (invited), General Larry Welch, USAF (Ret.), President, Institute for Defense Analyses, Maj Gen Kenneth Israel, USAF, Director, Defense Airborne Reconnaissance Office, Mr. Robert Ayers, Chief InfoSec Integration Oversight Office, Defense Information Systems Agency, and Mr. John Nagengast, Deputy Chief, Network Security Group, National Security Agency. Day two, 2 October, will consist of two tracks - Technical and Acquisition. The technical track will be chaired by Mr. Dave Adamy, Adamy Engineering, and will provide a series of technical papers addressing Firewalls, EW Activities and Facilities at the NATO C3 Agency in Support of SHAPE, Expanded Situational Awareness, Emitter Location Techniques and Algorithms, Super-Exponentially Convergent Blind Fractionally Spaced Equalization and Russian Low Cost Phased-Array Technology. The keynote for this track will be The Honorable Dr. Anita Jones, Director, Defense Research and Engineering. Track two, under the chairmanship of Colonel Nolan Schmidt, USMC, NAVAIR, will address the evolving acquisition process, with a focus on issues and challenges of EW and IW systems specifications. The keynote will be presented by The Honorable Art Money, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition). The Honorable John J. Hamre, UNDERSECDEF (Comptroller) has also been invited to provide ``A Financial Overview of the Worth of EW'' and his outlook on the acquisition process. Other briefings include: JC2WC Support of Acquisition (Col Frank Goral, USMC, JC2WC); Rapid Acquisition Response to Contingency (Lt Col C. Lampard, USMC, MAG-31); Flexibility in Joint EA-6B Operations (Lt Col Joe Connell, USMC, MAG-14); Signal Intelligence in Bosnia (Lt Col Bill Nelson, United Kingdom); and the most comprehensive Information Warfare survey (10 year market forecast, including technology, risk, and issues) conducted to date (LTG Tom Weinstein, USA (Ret.), Electronic Warfare Associates). In addition, the services will provide their views regarding the current and future state of acquisition (COL Pat Oler, USA, Airborne Electronic Combat/Col Nolan Schmidt, USMC, NAVAIR). In addition, there will be three days of exhibits. Over 100 booths representing defense contractors and government organizations from around the world will display current technology, systems, and capabilities.
